Sweating is a natural process that our bodies go through. The main purpose of it is to help our bodies regulate temperature which then prevents overheating.

There are certain conditions where you are unable to sweat properly and that make everyday activities a struggle.

In some cases, you can even end up suffering from heatstroke, a potentially fatal condition.

At the same time, there are conditions where your body sweats excessively. This can be embarrassing when you are constantly dealing with underarm sweat patches.

The good thing is that there are solutions if you want to avoid drenched underarms. The goal isn’t to completely stop sweating, which isn’t healthy for your body, but to at least restore your confidence.

Here is how you can get your sweating under control.

Avoid tight clothes

Cute, tight tops and dresses are trendy pieces to have in your wardrobe. Agreed. They accentuate your best features and make you feel sexy.

However, tight clothes actually make you sweat more. They cause your body temperature to rise while creating an environment for bacteria to multiply.

To prevent your body from sweating excessively especially in the underarm area, wear looser fitting clothes. This will allow the natural process of sweating to take place without anyone noticing.

Wear breathable materials

Aside from wearing loose fitting clothes, you should consider selecting breathable materials when shopping for clothes.

There are some materials that notoriously cause excessive sweating and others that naturally let the sweat evaporate easily.

You should go for natural fibers like cotton and linen and avoid fabrics like spandex which will cause more underarm sweating.

Apply antiperspirant

There is a difference between antiperspirant and deodorant. Antiperspirant slows down the processes of sweating while deo is more of a solution to underarm odors that come as a result of sweating.

In this case, you should switch to antiperspirants.

To make them more effective, apply on clean and dry underarms and not when you’ve already started sweating.

If you’re dealing with excessive sweating, you can go for stronger prescribed antiperspirants that are safe to use.

Shave your underarms

Shaving your underarms is an important step to avoiding sweat patches. It won’t make you sweat less because the process takes place form your sweat glands, but it does make your antiperspirant more effective.

As a plus, shaving often reduces the amount of trapped odor which will help you smell fresh too.

Remember that you shouldn’t apply antiperspirant or deo immediately after shaving though. This could cause skin irritations so it’s best to let your skin breathe before applying anything if you’ve just shaved.

Try a medical procedure

There are times when you’ve tried everything from changing your wardrobe to trying disposable underarm pads but nothing seems to work well.

You might have even reached a point where you’re done spending money on dozens of antiperspirants and are finally looking for a more long-term solution.

If you’re comfortable with trying procedures like getting Botox injections, you can try that. This can be a more effective approach if you notice you sweat excessively.

Do enough research and make sure you’re getting the procedure done by a professional.
