On Wednesday, February 8, the body of the Late Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) George Magoha will be taken to various places in Nairobi, where it will be viewed by members of the public.

The funeral committee, led by former Basic Education Principal Secretary (PS) Julius Jwan, said on Friday, February 3 that Magoha's body will be viewed at institutions that "defined his adult life".

The caravan will begin at the College of Health Sciences at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), and then proceed to the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council Headquarters, the Nigerian High Commission, St. George's Primary School, KNEC Headquarters on Dennis Pritt Road, State House Girls' High School, the University of Nairobi (UoN) Graduation Square and finally the Starehe Boys' Centre and School.

Magoha was an alumnus of Starehe Boys and served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi between 2005 and 2015. He also had a stint as the chairperson of KNEC between 2016 and 2019.

On Thursday, February 9, a requiem mass will be held at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands, Nairobi from 9am.

On Friday, February 10, the Late Magoha's body will be flown to Yala Township Primary School in Gem, Siaya County.

The body is scheduled to arrive at the school for public viewing at 1pm, and thereafter moved to St. Mary's High School, Yala for the same exercise.

A funeral service will, thereafter, be held at Magoha's Umiru Village home.

On Saturday, February 11, at 10am, the final funeral mass will be held at the Odera Akang'o University campus before his interment at his Umiru Village home.

Addressing journalists at Magoha's Lavington home in Nairobi, Dr. Jwan said on Friday that more details will be provided on Tuesday, February 7 at the ex-minister's city home.

Magoha died on January 24, 2023 at the age of 71.

He had suffered a cardiac arrest at his Nairobi home, and was pronounced dead at the Nairobi Hospital shortly after arrival.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Barbara Magoha, and son, Dr. Michael Magoha.
