Getting married is a huge deal. It’s one of the most important milestones in life because it marks a new chapter and a new beginning. It also symbolizes the coming together of two people and the birth of a new family.

For couples, a wedding ceremony can be a particularly emotional moment.

Of course, brides are known to shed a few tears on their special day, but if you look closely, you will spot quite a number of men who get teary-eyed too.

Since men are the less emotional gender, it’s a bit surprising to see many of them crying on their wedding day.

That however should not be a shocker because they’re human beings too!

If you have ever wondered why this happens, allow us to walk you through some of the reasons why they shed a tear or two:

  • It’s an emotional day

Men are generally tough and more emotionally reserved. You will barely see them crying for years until something major happens in their lives like the loss of a loved one, or a special occasion like their wedding day.

When they see their bride, all dolled up in a beautiful gown, the moment becomes more real to him. The tears might even show up when exchanging vows because he can’t believe he’s finally marrying the love of his life.

This special time can make even the manliest man tear up.

  • He’s just happy

There is a lot that goes through couple’s minds on the day of their wedding. They’re still understanding the reality that they will be an officially married couple before the day ends and they’re going to be with their bestie for the rest of their lives.

The thought of all this confirms that he is really ready to make this big change and at that moment it is possible to be filled with so much joy to the point of crying.

  • He’s overwhelmed by the support

Being surrounded by people you love during your wedding day is so amazing. It’s a dream for many to have their parents and closest friends make it and once you see them cheering you on, you can’t keep the tears from pouring.

It’s truly a blessing to enjoy your special day with others and it’s great to know that they made it to your big day.

There might be some guests who really struggled to make it especially those who were having some health challenges and that is part of the reason why grooms shed a few tears.

  • He appreciates the journey as a couple

Couples go through so many struggles in their relationships. There are many issues like financial constraints and heartbreaking seasons that threaten to break them up even before they manage to make it down the aisle.

For any groom, once he spots his bride, he remembers all the challenges they went through together and he is amazed that his dreams of getting married are finally being actualized.

  • Some men are simply emotional

Although men generally don’t cry as often, there are still many who aren’t afraid to express their emotional side. Emotions are a healthy part of life and besides, they’re allowed to show their feelings and excitement on their special day.

When a man is emotional, it doesn’t mean he is weak. We all experience different emotions and it is definitely okay for grooms to tear up on their wedding day.
