Police in Matungulu are holding one suspect following an incident in which a supermarket night guard in Tala town was killed in a night raid.
The unknown assailants struck in the dead of the night on Sunday and hacked to death the 40-year-old watchman before breaking into the store where they stole cash and goods of unknown value.
Matungulu Sub County police commander, Peter Omondi said police have launched an investigation into the incident, which has left the Tala business community in shock.
"We have arrested one person who is helping us with the investigation into the incident," said Omondi.
The police boss said the deceased was hit on the head by the assailants using what they suspect to be a blunt object.
Area MCA, Jackson Ndaka, who visited the scene condemned the incident and urged the police to get to the bottom of the matter.
The body of the deceased was removed to Kangundo hospital mortuary.
