Today, the First Lady of Kenya Margaret Gakuo Kenyatta marks an important day in her life as she turns 54.
Known majorly for her role as Mama Taifa by virtue of being married to her husband President Uhuru Kenyatta, she has achieved a lot as a person and through the office she holds.
Born on 8th April 1964, Margaret captured the nation and the world at large when she started the Beyond Zero Campaign aimed at creating awareness and raising funds to tackle issues that affect maternal, child health issues and mother to child transmission of HIV.
Her campaigns on the issues have brought her recognition and drawn attention to the matter affecting millions annually in Kenya.
Later on, she launched the First Lady marathon that was meant to raise funds and increase access to better health care through mobile clinics in a bid to bring services closer to Kenyans.
In 2004, Margaret was also named United Nations person of the year. She has three kids.
