It is now official; Kenya is a “bandit economy“; our land has reached the lowest point in graft.
Kenyans must do a thorough soul-searching on integrity issues. Graft is what our headlines are made of.
Yet anyone who dares fight the vice is quickly destroyed. What will it take to rid the country of the vice, once and for all?
It was Chief Justice (CJ) Willy Mutunga who threw the first salvo. He christened our economy as being driven by bandits.
As usual, the country went into denial as most wananchi chose to throw barbs at the president of the Supreme Court.
Now with the CEO of the country admitting we are indeed a bandit economy, what next? Is graft beyond the agencies established to fight it? Who will save our land?
Kenyans must be annoyed with the state of helplessness being depicted by those mandated to fight graft. Courts under the CJ are supposed to prosecute corrupt officials.
On the other hand, the Executive under the President is required to provide the necessary political will.
Can the two arms of the Government do their work rather than cry and complain.
