Young people looking to get married may soon not have to pay brideprice or dowry if the marriage bill 2011 passes. The bill states that any agreement to give dowry, whether made before or after the law comes into force, shall not be enforceable as a contract. Further the bill provides that persons who have co-habited for at least two years shall be recognized as married. Ktn's Ann Soy Mwendia is here with the highlights of the marriage bill 2011
