Contrary to common perception that Kenyans are some of the most highly taxed, a new survey indicates that the country’s tax rates are indeed comparable with those applicable elsewhere in the world. Tax experts are instead arguing that it is the poor service delivered by the state that makes Kenyan taxpayers feel shortchanged. conducted by the world bank and pricewaterhousecoopers, the paying tax 2010 report ranks Kenya at 164 out of 183 economies sampled, down six places from last year, mainly due to the fact that other economies reformed their tax regimes faster.
