Nyandarua County Governor sacks Roads executive

Lady Speak

Embattled Roads Executive Charles Chiuri has been sacked.

Mr Chiuri was among 13 other senior officials suspended by Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka two months ago for alleged involvement in corruption deals where the county lost over Sh700 million under his docket.

Chiuri was replaced by county legal advisor Kamau Muthanwa.

The county chief at the same time announced minor changes to his cabinet, appointing two new members of the county executive committee while revoking the appointment of the new county secretary.

Addressing journalists in his office, Mr Waithaka dropped Education Executive Peter Macharia making him a member of the county Public Service Board (PSB). He named PSB Vice Chairperson Eddah Wanjiru Wangaru as Education executive.

And in a surprise development, the county boss revoked the appointment of Frank Kanja Muchina as county secretary, hardly six months into office, and named him the new ICT executive.

The position fell vacant following the resignation of lawyer George Kimani two months ago.

The new appointees will now await formal clearance from the Nyandarua County Assembly before taking over their new roles.

The governor also appointed Department of Health Chief Officer Martin Irungu as acting county secretary. The governor said he will not tolerate incompetent workers.
