Girl, clean that weave

Hair

There is a lady I know who wears the same hairstyle, or should I just say, weave all the time. I am sure it is because it looks good on her and of course it is easy to work with.

What bothers me that every time I hug her, an odour stings my nostrils. She is well-groomed, dressed up with her face beat to the nines. I however do not understand how she goes about her day without smelling the whiff of mephitic as she sways about.

I am certain she is not the only one walking around with a fetid smoke around her, many women are guilty of this. Should we stop blaming the hair and blame the wearer? Because girls, your body, your hair needs a wash too.

Most girls are too caught up with the curls and lustre of the weaves and do not want to ruin it with a wash. Granted, salon visits can be quite pricey, but you might not be athletic for the gym or it might not be a rainy month but you still need to check your weaves, sister.

Lots of girls are obsessed with the Marley twists lately, which are getting the same fate as the weaves. Look, they are amazing because they last for months and even look better as they grow older but still…

Clean the twists to save our sensory neurons, please. My male friends who never understand this weave debacle wonder where the smell comes from yet the girl seems clean. Move closer guys, time for the know.

Sweat gets trapped underneath the bulky hair, your ends might air out but the cornrows holding the weaves in place never really get a chance to dry out therefore it builds up overtime.

Also a lot of people do not know dandruff getting trapped under a weave, which becomes unbearably itchy because of the dryness results into a funky smell. Depending on the investment of the weave you will know how much washing it needs or ask your hair stylist. The hair needs to be cleaned to remove the entire product off to keep it clean and fresh. If you are slaying the streets, girl, your hair better smell the part
