So your wedding day is fast approaching yet there is still so much ground to cover. Your gown, cake, venue, parents... the list is endless. In fact some brides end up forgetting some things they need to do. Your beauty regimen MUST be on the list of to-do.

Very important. Your hair, as the day approaches, should be on the priority list. Having gorgeous hair is not easy though – you must pre-plan, make appointments well in advance and ensure your hair is well nourished for the big day. There are certain things you need to keep in mind about your big day hairdo before the day:

Hair stylist: Take your time and consult a number of hairdressers before you settle on one you are most comfortable with. Let them know what you love and what you hate on matters hairstyle.

• Hair style: Will you want long hair, middle length, short hair, braids or even weave? Let your chosen stylist advise you, well in advance, on what will be suitable for you according to your discussion. Settle for a style that fits with your personality and style.

• Does your style enhance, or kill the beauty of your wedding dress? Your fashion stylist and hairdresser should guide you.

• Wash your hair the night before you go for your consultation and also carry some pictures, if possible, of the hairstyles you would like to try out. You could also carry a picture of the wedding dress so that your hairdresser may know the kind of wedding you are having: formal, informal, evening, and daytime.

• In case you want to change the color of your hair or have a haircut for the wedding, do so during the initial consultation with the hairdresser, at least a month before the wedding, not the night before the wedding, so that you don’t have unpleasant surprises last minute. The extra time softens your style a bit, so that it looks as natural as possible. Also, in case a disaster strikes, there is ample time to fix it.

• Once you settle on a hairstyle, walk around with it to ensure you are comfortable in it on the wedding day. There is nothing as bad as a woman uncomfortable with her hairdo.

• The length of your veil will also determine your choice of hairstyle. In most cases, the veil is longer than the hair and is normally secured in back swept hair (for up dos) It is thus important to ensure the style can hold the veil in place.

Choosing a bridal hair style may sound strenuous, but the preparation is simply to ensure your wedding day flows smoothly and you stand out as the bride.
