Naomi Campbell appeared to hint at her impending baby joy - saying 2021 was going to be “great” but with a few more “bumps” to go.
Campbell said the cryptic comments in a magazine chat earlier this year.
She said in the interview with i-D : “‘2021 is going to be a great year, we’ve just got a few more bumps to get through first.
"I believe that this is going to be an amazing year. Actually, I don’t just believe it will be - I feel it will be.”
The 50-year-old announced the news she was going to be mother to a baby girl on Instagram on Tuesday as she shared a picture of her hand holding her feet.
She wrote: “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother, so honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love.”
Naomi, who turns 51 on Saturday, reportedly has a boyfriend in the US.
The star, who previously dated Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin and Italian businessman Flavio Briatore, has not revealed who the baby’s father is or if she carried her naturally.
During a 2017 interview with the Evening Standard she spoke about wanting to become a mother.
She said: “I think about having children all the time.
“But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want.”
Naomi’s mum Valerie congratulated her on her baby news, saying: “I’m beyond thrilled as I’ve waited a long time to be a grandmother.”
Model Adut Akech, 21, mentored by Naomi, said: “I can’t wait to be the best big sister to this angel, mama.”
The catwalk star has also previously dated U2 bassist Adam Clayton, and has been linked to stars including Liam Payne, Leonardo DiCaprio and Skepta.
She was discovered as a schoolgirl and she went on to become the first British black model to appear on the cover of British Vogue.
She is also known for her charity work, and in 2005 founded Fashion For Relief, a charity merging fashion and philanthropy.
