Kim Kardashian has admitted that she 'needed a break' as she opened up about the real reason for the end of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

The 39-year-old reality star and her family confirmed at the start of last month that their widely popular television show was coming to an end after 20 seasons.

Speaking during her recent interview with Grazia, the mum of four admitted that she was ready for a break after 14 years of filming.

"This was a dream of all of ours," the brunette star told the publication.

"We never imagined we would get onto season two. Now we're on twenty. Sometimes we just need a break. It's really simple."

During her interview, the reality star also added that their busy work schedules and the amount of filming had proved demanding.

She added: "We just need a minute to regroup. You know, we haven't had a break for fourteen years.

"We've gone into filming a season, then a spin off and I think there's no other way to say it other than, we just live such big lives."

Turning her attention to her family life, Kim also added that being a parent meant that her priorities have now shifted.

Kim continued: "And we have kids now. And they need us. There's so much going on that, even just for a minute we need a break."

In an emotional social media post at the start of September, Kim thanked her fans for their support as she announced the end of the show.

In her statement, she wrote: "After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children.

"We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.

Rumours have swirled around the reasoning behind the end of KUWTK since they made the announcement public last month.

The announcement also followed after a turbulent few months for Kim and her husband Kanye West, who made several explosive allegations about their relationship.

Kanye, who is bipolar, claimed at one point that he had tried to divorce Kim and even broke down in tears at a rally and revealed he had considered aborting his daughter.

Despite looking to take a break from demanding recording schedules, it was also recently reported that Kim might already be eyeing a lucrative multi-million dollar filming deal with Apple TV.

The streaming providers are reportedly keen to bag the reality star before competitors such as Netflix for potential future TV projects.

While KUWTK draws to a close, Kim has also firmly cemented her place in shapewear design.
