Nine years ago today, Kate Middleton said her wedding vows and married Prince William, finally becoming a member of the Royal Family.

People around the world watched as the couple became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and they've since gone on to welcome three beautiful children.

The couple normally mark their anniversary with a romantic day, however just like everyone else celebrating special occasions at the moment, they've had to change their plans due to the coronavirus.

This means they'll spend the day at home with George, Charlotte and Louis - so the day will probably involve lots of family play and crafts.

But William is known to be a bit of a romantic, so we're sure he'll make sure it's special.

We've had a look back at how the couple normally celebrate their anniversaries.

First anniversary - 2012

The first wedding anniversary is a big deal for any couple.

You've made it through the first year without realising you actually hate each other - good work.

The traditional gift for the first wedding anniversary is paper and Kate was keen to stick to the tradition.

She cooked William fish en papillote, which is fish wrapped in paper. We like her style.

The couple were at Kate's childhood friend Hannah Gillingham's wedding the night before and stayed in a local pub.

They had breakfast with the other guests on the morning of their anniversary before heading back to Anglesey where they were living at the time.

Second anniversary - 2013

This was probably one of their most 'normal' anniversaries because just like everyone else, sometimes life just gets in the way of celebrations.

William was working for the Royal Air Force at the time and had to go to work, which meant they spent the day apart.

Kate, who was six months pregnant with Prince George, carried out an official visit to the Naomi House children's hospice in Hampshire.

Third anniversary - 2014

By this point the couple's lives had changed completely as they were now parents to a beautiful baby boy.

Prince George was born in July 2013, which means he was nine months old on their anniversary.

The family spent the day together in private, but there's a good chance it was a quiet one as they had just returned from a busy tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Fourth anniversary - 2015

This probably wasn't the most enjoyable anniversary as Kate was a week overdue with her second child, Princess Charlotte.

Kate and Wills spent the day together at Kensington Palace.

Kate was using the palace's pool a lot during this time to try and bring on her labour, so it was rumoured she went for a quick dip on the big day.

Fifth anniversary - 2016

The threesome are now a four after the arrival of Princess Charlotte in May.

The family spent the day at home in private.

They send a sweet previously unseen photo of themselves in the garden to thank people who had supported them through the first five years of marriage.

Sixth anniversary - 2017

It was another quiet one for the couple, who celebrated in private at home.

The official Kensington Palace Twitter account posted a throwback photo from the big day with a message thanking well-wishers for their kind messages.

Seventh anniversary - 2018

Seven years on from their big day, Kate and Wills had just become parents for the third time.

Once again the palace took to social media to mark the anniversary, this time sharing a photo of the newlyweds leaving their wedding in a car covered in balloons and ribbons.

Eighth wedding anniversary - 2019

The couple also took to social media to thank well-wishers for their kind messages on their special day.

But Kate also got a very, very special gift from the Queen to mark the occasion - a new honour.

She awarded her a  Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (RVO), which is the monarch's highest seal of approval.

Awards under the Royal Victorian Order are made personally by The Queen, who last week turned 93 .

The RVO has five classes from member to Knight or Dame Grand Cross, and Kate follows in the footsteps of the Duchess of Cornwall, who received the same honour in the Queen's 2012 Diamond Jubilee year.

It was likely the honour recognises Kate's work over the past eight years as a member of the monarchy.?

How long since you travelled to shags to see your parents?
