6 foods you should avoid eating before getting intimate

While in most cases a good romp comes after a hearty meal, what you don’t know is your dinner may ruin a pleasurable sweat session.

Just like foods which are capable of boosting your sex drive, there are some which if consumed before sexual intercourse can mess with your tummy or disrupt your hormonal balance, resulting in a serious lack of libido.

While their side effects don't kick in immediately, spare yourself from so-so sex and avoid these lesser-known anti-aphrodisiacs pre-lovemaking by avoiding these foods.

  1. Alcohol

While you may want to be a little buzzed before hitting the sack, unfortunately beer can lower your libido and cause poor performance in men. That’s because hormone-tampering phytoestrogens are present in the hops used to make beer. It can also act as a depressant and cause wind problems in both sexes.

  1. Energy drinks

Contrary to what their names suggest, they are not stamina boosters. The hefty doses of sugar and caffeine pair up for only a temporary surge resulting in a crash later. In short, the energy will not last long enough to the end of the session. Too much sugar in energy drinks can also lower testosterone levels, zapping libido. If you must, opt for black currant juice which nourishes the adrenal glands for a natural, enduring energy boost.

  1. Chips

Trans-fat in fries can negatively impact testosterone levels and circulation. Chips high salt content also can make it trickier for men with high blood pressure to stay erect. Fried and salty foods lower the sex drive by impacting the circulation and can also cause bloating in some cases. If you’re craving some fries consider a baked version or go for sweet potatoes.

Diary is known to kill libido so better steer off if you want to get down and dirty later. Besides a majority of the people being lactose intolerant, commercially made dairy products are full of hormone-disrupting antibiotics. Cheese can also make your body to produce more mucus leaving you bloated and gassy.

The reason you may be feeling lethargic and tired after a hearty steak is because it is difficult to digest and the meat gives your digestive system extra work to do. It is therefore a good idea to skip the meat if you want a steamy session with your partner.

Sucking on chocolate coated strawberries may sound like a good idea to get you in the mood but better save that for later. The problem is fruits digest faster because they are packed with carbohydrates and when there is no proper food to hold them back the digestion is faster. This lag time can result in bloating, cramping and bowel problems. It is therefore a good idea to wait after two hours to have that fruit you so badly crave.
