Which of these five women are you?

Every woman wants to be loved. When women who are married or are dating upload pictures on social media about their dates, we single women can only watch with envy. There are many types of women who display their love lives on social media and I have put them into these five categories:

1. The dreamer

This is the single woman in a hurry to win the love of her crush or new boyfriend. She is a dreamer and she’s always speaking of how sure she is that her crush has the same feeling she has for him. If you spend enough time with her, you will hear her dreaming of her first date with him. “Did you notice how he looked at me the last time we met him along the road? But of course, we will be soon hanging out together.” She will even tell you how he called her (even though it was to ask for another women’s number). The last thing you can ever do to is to disagree with her. All you need to do is to allow them more time to dream, that’s all.

2. The self-centred babe

She is in a new relationship. Very fresh for that matter. You will spot them from afar because of how they talk and behave, like they have just arrived - the newest couple in town. The entire time you are with her, she is constantly receiving calls from her new bae. He will be calling to ask those silly questions like, “What did you have for supper? How was your night? What dress are you wearing? Did you miss me today?” She is always very needy. If her boyfriend fails to ask her how her night was, he just might earn himself a breakup. She is not the best to give relationship advice. She will boldly tell you that your boyfriend does not love you since he no longer gives you those random calls. “How could he forget to say hello in the morning?” she will demand. But just give her a month or two and she will be fully in the system.

3. The lover type

She is the most difficult kind of woman to advise. She is just in love. She does almost everything in her relationship. She will be the first to start a conversation with her boyfriend, the one to make those random calls, the one to welcome him to her apartment and the one to cater for everything. But she will still go unappreciated. On a bad day, she will want to give up on the relationship but something somewhere makes her change her mind and she’ll choose to stay. She will suffer silently in her relationship, hoping beyond hope that one day, her so-called lover will change, feel her pain and reciprocate her love. When?

4. The player

She is in a complicated relationship. Whether she is treated well or treated poorly by her lover, she will always have that backup mechanism; a sponsor or just another lover. She is always out (with somebody), enjoying life to the fullest. She once told you she wasn’t cheating - the other guy was merely a side hustle. My brother, I just need you to confirm that you are not the side hustle. Thank me later.

5. The go-getter

Finally, we have this bold woman - I call her the go-getter. She strongly believes in the slogan, ‘Yes we can’. To her, nothing is impossible. She will always ensure she gets what she wants in a relationship. She is always bold enough to approach a guy and confess her feelings. I ever I, Angeline, daughter of Ochieng’ find myself approaching a man and confessing my feelings to a guy, I will know that I have lost my senses.
