Are you addicted to TV?

Your Home

In  2013, 79 per cent of total households worldwide or 1.4 billion homes had at least one TV set. Projected statistics estimate the number will go up to 1.68 billion by 2021. According to TV Technology, the future television will continue to dominate how the world’s population gets its information and entertainment, whether it’s by over-the-air, cable, satellite or IP.

This by itself should help raise a few eye brows considering one out of three people worldwide don’t have proper toilets. The real reason TV was made was ; for propaganda. Do your research.

While TV might have a lot to offer, what you see and hear should not be relied on as factual information. Do your due diligence. And while you’re at it, below are some of the very many underlying dangers of watching TV.

Fascination

The power of TV can’t be ignored. TV leads to real addiction leading to bad habits and before long the influence materializes. People begin to be interested and obsessed with something not knowing the danger it brings. For example, cool military movies inspire many young people to join the military only to be hit with a harsh reality and death.

When you live detached from the real world living primarily in the world you see portrayed on television, you may be influenced to engage in the behaviors you see on TV such as smoking, drinking and doing illegal drugs. Watching too much television might brain wash you in negative ways.

Distorted reality

Fact is TV lies and ruins your perception of life. Take news for example which is edited and cut therefore allowing you to get nothing more but a glimpse of the whole picture. Reality shows for instance are acted and scripted. What you see is not always the case.

Sexual and emotional confusion

This affects children mostly due to the things they are exposed to. When sexual scenes appear kids tend to peep so as to satisfy their curiosity and at the same time they are confused by what they see. Parents should be cautious of what they and their children are watching. Early sex among kids has been attributed to what they saw on TV.

Wastes your time

Studies have revealed that people spend up to 3 hours plus watching TV a day. Instead of spending time with loved ones, working and building our own lives. TV has become the source of entertainment and gratification for many. Life is too short to spend it watching rigged games and scripted shows filled with debauchery.

Affects your self-esteem

When people do not measure up to their fantasy lifestyle thanks to music videos and fake reality shows, it leads them into believing they have no value and therefore do not see the reason for living. They therefore, contemplate suicide not realizing the satanic deception behind the one-eyed monster.

Exposure to the occult

Call it a conspiracy or whatever word you use to water down the seriousness, some programs and the music we listen to are filled with heavy spiritual tones such as new age, Satanism etc. Hollywood insiders and celebrities alike have time and time again warned about the indoctrination and dangers of watching TV.

Destroys attention span

Now that TV churns out quick information, opinions, analyses, scene changes at high frequencies and what have you, you begin to develop a lower attention span and increase the risk of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Breaks down your critical thinking

When you watch TV, brain activity switches from the left side of your brain which is responsible for logical thought and critical analysis to the right side. This leaves you in a very suggestible state taking in everything without questioning it.

Damages physical health

The health implications with supporting studies are a story by themselves. Television makes people to be dormant leading to unhealthy lifestyles. This inactivity has been linked to some of the diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and obesity due to being in one place for hours and snacking mostly on junk food without moving around.

Addiction

TV can become so addictive because it releases endorphins, a natural sedative with similar properties to heroine. People who fail to watch their favorite team play or a favorite series that is airing, tend to exhibit withdrawal symptoms to a drug addict like anger and anxiety. Don’t believe it? Try skipping TV for a week or month.

Affects your dreams

Blame your strange dreams on what you’re allowing yourself to see. It is so bad that Science has proven that people who watched black and white TV had dreams in black and white. Imagine what else is happening in your subconscious which receives everything you see without filtering.
