It can consume you – Janet Mbugua shares her experience as mother and wife

Being mother comes with happiness and its share of challenges as former News presenter Janet Mbugua recently revealed.

In a post on her Instagram, Janet said sometimes she wasn’t really too sure of what she was doing or of her methods of bring up a family. In any case there wasn’t an umbrella way of bringing up a family- each unit and situation requiring distinct ways of handling.

She explained how much energy it took a young mother to balance out a lot of things at once:  Mothering, career, wife.  But she was glad she was doing this because ultimately, she wrote, it was fulfilling.

It is perhaps the story of “while we want to get to the destination, the journey makes it worth.”

She has been sharing her journey

Earlier on in the year, she had revealed a rather personal experience of what had happened to her after she gave birth.“Ever heard of #Lochia? I experienced it in a salon” She said.

Well, after giving birth, women experience lochia. This is the vaginal discharge after giving birth (puerperium) containing blood, mucus and uterine tissue. Lochia discharge typically continues for 4 to 6 weeks after childbirth, which is known as the postpartum period.

She shared this experience because according to her, women and especially young mothers need to talk more about it.

She worked as a news presenter

Janet Mbugua now works as co-host in show that highlights on motherhood and parenting.

Here is her post:

I'm not huge on sharing family photos, not all the time at least. I may occasionally do so on my Insta Stories. But this here is a real moment. Shared laughter, in between moments of fatigue, being cranky, not always being sure of what I'm really doing, or my methods, when it comes to raising a new family!

I'm learning that this life, balancing all things, is far from easy. It can consume you and sometimes you just need a moment, away from people and projects, to conquer the everyday good and bad. Seasons and phases, which not everyone will understand.

But ultimately, it's a most fulfilling life, abounding with lessons that will certainly better me. Hands up if you feel me! Also, Happy Sunday ???????? #TheJourneyWithJanet #IAmMotherhood
