I’m sure most of you are glued to your screens on Tuesdays when the now popular show Tujuane is on.
As far as blind dates go, most of these have been a major fail – but the show has delivered its promise, to entertain you. That aside, there’s something very evident in these shows: many of the women featured are uncouth, to say the least.
Why am I so pissed off? It’s cause we sit and gripe, day in, day out, that Nairobi’s and Kenyan men are nothing to talk about, they’re boring, rude, all about tapping that and running off, and all they care about is their boys and fun, not their future.
Have we, however, stopped to think about how we approach them? Like it or not, most men are somewhat old-fashioned when it comes to the art of wooing. We complain about men no longer interested in wooing us, yet you act like a Neanderthal on your first date.
What’s with the asking about whether he can afford you, acting all condescending looking him up and down and sizing him up, and expect him to be a gentleman about it.
Don’t you think men have eyes, ears and feelings? As you sit there asking about the size of his wallet, he’s already stashed you in a corner of his mind where he knows the most he will do with you is finish that date and distance you from his life. If he does anything meaningful, he’ll hit that, and run. Yeah, b**** and moan about it, but you got what was coming to you.
I think women can be all about gold digging if they want, but they can be mature, elegant, wily and smart about it.
If you get a guy to like you, chances are he’ll spend all he can on you, and so in this case, it’s just about setting your sights on the right kind of gold mine if you wish.
If you want a man to love you forever, and to spend his life with you, then you have to prove that you’re worth it. He’s not just going to abandon all those lovely fish in the pond for you for nothing – it has to be worth his time, respect and you have to earn his love.
Next time you’re on a first date, or on Tujuane, be nice. You never know what it could turn out to be your biggest fail, or the love of your life.
