How to revitalise your hair with eggs

Soft hairOther than adding oomph to your breakfast, eggs can also do wonders to your hair.

Whenever we put chemical in our hair and heat style it, it loses the protein that makes it up – it is actually the protein that gives hair its strength. Losing the protein in the hair leaves it  weak leading to breakage. Most women desire long hair but breakage never gives them opportunity to enjoy it. One can never achieve a maximum length of hair, no matter how fast it grows, if it is breaking.

Treating your hair with protein helps rebuild its structure since it replaces the lost nutrient. Eggs are a great source of protein and lecithin, which moisturise and strengthen your hair.

To narrow it down, you can specifically use egg yolks. Egg yolks are loaded with nutrients that nourish and keep hair healthy. They contain vitamins A, D and E, which protect hair against the UV rays, pollution and chlorine. Vitamins A and E also prevent thinning and loss of hair. Vitamin D improves and maintains the texture and lustre of your hair.

Egg yolks also have sulfur, which relieves dandruff and helps maintain a healthy scalp. The egg yolk treatment strengthens your hair making it silkier, softer and easier to manage. They also provide hydration to the hair; making it less prone to breakage. The yolk penetrates into the scalp and hair follicles. It is a powerful natural remedy for dry and damaged hair.

Make your protein treatment at home by adding an egg to your conditioner. Wash your hair then apply the mixture. Leave it in your hair for about an hour before rinsing and styling as usual. This treatment reduces breakage and restores the hair’s health making it look fuller and thicker.

To make the egg yolk treatment, beat the yolk in a bowl, add yoghurt, honey and almond oil and beat thoroughly.  Apply the mixture onto your scalp and hair and leave for about 90 minutes. Rinse with cool water, then style.
