The Afro look is a hit among many women and I must confess they look awesome. Even as they rock it, no one wants their hair to look dull.
Here are a few tips on how to ensure your afro looks great always:
Bedtime: As much as many assume that natural hair has no fuss, it is still important to protect it at night when you go to bed. Wrap your hair in a satin scarf or bonnet, or use a satin pillow; using cotton material on your hair leads to the absorption of natural hair oils that your hair direly requires.
Anti-tangles: One of the worst parts of maintaining an Afro is the pain when you have to comb it; it tends to tangle a lot. The kinks and tangling can prevent your hair from being its fully fierce self. To save yourself from this agony, section your hair into large twists or braids before you go to bed.
Spritz it with a moisturising spray, such as olive oil and water — this you can make at home. Covering your hair with a satin or silk scarf will minimise tangles and kinks thus reducing the pain when you comb it in the morning.
Locking moisture: A dull afro is not attractive; keep it hydrated, well oiled and fluffy using natural oils like jojoba, coconut, olive and almond. Massage them gently into your hair and scalp.
Combing: The wrong type of comb can easily damage your afro. Always use a wide-tooth comb to de-tangle your hair. Start at the ends of the hair and work your way to the scalp to prevent it from breaking and tearing.
There you go; have a flawless Afro.
