What does being a woman mean to you?

To me, a woman is blessed with a mind equal to a man’s, but the ability to feel more than he ever could as well as having the freedom to express it. Being a woman is a blessing.

 

What kind of a woman are you?

I am assertive and a go-getter. Being my mother’s child has taught me to be assertive yet kind. That is what has got me out of tricky situations.

 

What qualities do you possess that make you stand out as a journalist?

My ability to empathise with the subject enabling me to be true to their story.  

 

What is your greatest achievement as an individual?

Moving out of home and trying to make it on my own. This has taught me to trust myself.  

 

What don’t people know about you?

I hate green melons. I hate them with a passion. 

 

What do you consider your best quality?

I have tunnel vision. It keeps me focused on the goal.

 

The most prized possession you value above others?

My mum bought me a gold Libra bracelet when I was about 6. I love it.

  

What is your secret to staying relevant in the journalism industry?

Creating a balance of staying true to the profession while being flexible to change.

 

Any secret beauty regimen that makes your skin glow?

African black soap because I have bad eating habits.

 

What would you consider your personal trademark?

My voice.

 

Would you change your short curls?

I love my short hair but, I don’t intend to cut it again. I want to see how my hair will look when it is long.

 

What is that thing that you find hard to resist?

Sweets......oh I love my candy....ask my dentist. 

What is your favourite pastime?

Mindless television.

  

Are you seeing anyone special?

Yes.  He makes me laugh and indulges me in my silliness. My policy is that money and looks will  fade, long conversations don’t.

Any lesson you learnt about dating?

Be yourself, as women we tend to change to suit a man, but you can’t pretend forever. It is wise to just be who you are, whoever does not like it, their loss.

 

What is your favourite holiday destination?

 I would love to go to Vanuatu. The pacific islands are so beautiful, they’re worth the killer 20-hour flight. 

 

What do you think about the Marriage Bill?

I think it’s retrogressive. Some legislators are pushing for the Act like they don’t have daughters or granddaughters.  

 

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Covering the 2017 General Election. I bet you were waiting for a kids and picket fence answer huh!  

What advice would you give to fellow women?

Do not be afraid to be judged with the same measuring stick as men. Equality comes with responsibility.
