The nominations for the 65th Annual Grammy Awards were announced on Tuesday with the awards ceremony set to happen on February 5 2023 in Los Angeles. Beyonce is leading this year's nominees as other big names like Kendrick Lamar, Adele and Harry Styles among others dominate this year's nominees.
USA Today reports the surprises which have sprinkled in during this year's nominations. Bonnie Raitt tucked into the song of the year lineup with "Just Like That" and there has also been an oddly large number of Christmas albums in the best traditional pop vocal album category.
Glorilla shared her disbelief after snagging her first nomination ever for F.N.F. speaking to Billboard she said,
" I don't think this is happening for real. This is crazy . My team let me know ,I had to go look it up for myself because I had thought maybe they was playing. "
Big names like Kanye West, Nicki Minaj , Megan Thee Stallion and Taylor Swift have been locked out in the Grammy nominations.
Minaj has kept her cool following the Grammy nominations announcement despite the rejection. Nicki Minaj alias "Super Freaky Girl" slammed the academy after her song was locked out of Best Rap Song category . On her twitter page, she posted ,
"I have no prob being moved out the RAP category as long as we r ALL being treated FAIRLY. If SFG has 2B moved out RAP then so does Big Energy! ANY1 who says diff is simply a Nicki hater or a troll. I'd actually LUV 2 c a more street record win- male OR female! IJS rightIsRight"
Megan Thee Stallion's album Traumazine and "Sweetest Pie" duet with Dual lipa which seemed like a Grammy-bait were ignored by the Academy. Last year the rapper won Best rap song, best rap performance and Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards.
Country music being a major genre is expected to garner a huge number of votes from Grammy voters. None of the Country artists cracked the big four categories as is the norm.
