John Legend's Instagram post

The model - who admitted she and her musician husband had tried for years to conceive - shared the happy news on her Instagram account.

Chrissy Teigen has announced she's pregnant, just weeks after opening up about her struggle to get pregnant with husband John Legend.

The 29-year-old model shared the happy news on her Instagram account, along with an intimate snap of her musician husband placing a protective hand on her tummy.

She wrote: "John and I are so happy to announce that we are pregnant.

"As many of you know, we've been trying to have a baby for a while now. It hasn't been easy, but we kept trying because we can't wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family.

"We're so excited that it's finally happening. Thank you for all your love and well wishes. I look forward to all the belly touching! xx"

Chrissy opened up about her struggle to conceive during a discussion with Tyra Banks on the new ABC show FABLife.

She revealed that the couple had been trying without luck for years.

Chrissy told the show: “I will say honestly John and I were having trouble. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it happened.”

She added: “But my gosh, it’s been a process.”

The beauty revealed that she and John, 36, had sought doctors help and was surprised at the “shame” that hopeful parents felt.

“We've seen fertility doctors and once you open up about those things to other people you learn that a lot of other people in your life are seeing these people and they have this shame about it,” she said.

The pair married two years ago and Chrissy admitted that they had faced regular questioning about when they planned to start a family.

“It’s kind of crazy because I can't imagine being that nosy to be like, 'So, when are the kids coming?' because who knows what somebody's going through,” Chrissy said.

“So anytime somebody asks if I'm going to have kids I'm just like, 'One day you're going to ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling and it's going to be really hurtful to them and I hate that. Stop asking me.’”
