So when was the last time you got a red-carpet reception? I guess many won’t easily recall since this type of reception is hard to come by. But for the hundreds who attended the Crazy Monday Comedy Night at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre Aberdare Hall got this royal reception. They walked on a red carpet that stretched several metres leading to the ballroom.

And inside the hall, comedians Fred Omondi, Paul Ogutu, MC Terrence, Derren, Ayieya, David the Student, Owago Nyiro and Vinnie Chipukizi among others tickled the audience’s funny bones with humorous slapstick gems.

As the comedians hit the well-lit stage one by one, the audience burst into uncontrollable laughter. Their witty jokes that poked fun at day-to-day occurrences left the audience asking for more. The perfect combination of co-hosts Sir Fred Omondi and MC Terrence transformed the show into a must-attend lifestyle.

The move from the Hilton Hotel to a much bigger and spacious KICC was to accommodate the ever growing audience.

Apart from the main comedians, there were fresh guest comedians in the name of Medical Services Minister Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o and former Government spokesman Dr Alfred Mutua. The two big shots traded places from their high offices and took them to stage to crack up the audience with fresh jokes.

Dr Mutua was first on stage with his joke on Kenyans’ style of giving directions. The youthful leader, who is vying for an elective post, threw caution to the wind and rocked the crowd with his imitation of a Luhya in the village giving directions to a stranger.

Not to be outwitted Prof Nyong’o said, “Christopher Columbus discovered America, the Right Brothers discovered the aeroplane. As I was driving in my Mercedes Benz, I discovered Dr Alfred Mutua in his Toyota Probox in a bush...” This left the audience cheering them both.

Nyong’o was raring to go and came back on stage saying his unshaved beard made him look like hip-hop megastar Rick Ross.

Apart from comedy, DJ Peter Adamz of Iz Vipi XL Mashariki aired both on KTN and Radio Maisha also rocked the audience. A back-up band led by singer Kamanu was off the hook.

The Crazy Comedy show is aired on KTN every Wednesday night at 7.40pm. Brace yourself for the next Crazy Monday Comedy Night on November 2 at the KICC Aberdare Hall.
