Ngigi reigns supreme at Kiambu Golf Club

Home golfer Eunice Ngigi returned a commanding score to clinch Britam Insurance – sponsored Clubnite tournament at Kiambu Golf Club on Friday.

Ngigi combined 19 with 24 stableford points for a total of 43 stableford points to claim the overall winner prize with authority over a field of 124 golfers who participated.

“I’m speechless with this win. I didn’t expect to play well but today was one of those days that things just happen. I saw God's hand throughout my round alongside the great company I played with.” Ngigi said in her acceptance speech.

Taking after Ngigi was Men winner, Nahashon Mburu playing off handicap 14 on a score of 40 stableford points media magnate SK Macharia beat C Gitahi on countback after posting a round total of 39 stableford points playing off handicap 20.

Top club lady amateur Joyce Wanjiru fired 73 gross points to take home the Gross prize.

Evelyene Njuguna playing off handicap 35 was the Lady winner on a commendable score of 41stableford points as Kiambu Golf Club’s Lady Captain Millicent Nyaga came in second on a score of 39 stableford points.

Leading the Guest players was N Gathuru on a score of 37 stableford points while Sponsor prize was won by a handicap 7, Caesar Mugo on a score of 38 stableford points.

In the Nines, Newton Mwangi and GN Manguriu won the First and Second nines with 22 and 21 stableford points respectively.

Speaking during the presentation dinner, Britam General Manager Corporate Business Development - Edward Kuria, underscored the importance of a mutual partnership with Kiambu Golf Club as the company -which has a regional presence in six African countries - continues to offer a wide array of financial services products including general insurance, life and asset management.

Kenya Longest drive team regular feature, Anthony Wachira, won in the men category with former Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Chairman, June Waweru winning in the ladies category.

B Tahiru claimed Nearest to Pin Men prize while Grace Githere won Nearest to Pin Lady winner prize.

Six twos were registered during the meet by Millicent Nyaga on the 17th hole, Karanja Mbugua on the seventh hole, Prof G Ndegwa on the 14th hole.

Others were by, Pius Mworia on the fourth hole, Caesar Mugo on eighth hole and Onesmus Gathara on the eighth hole with each receiving six golf balls each.
