When Deputy President Dr. William Ruto declared during a radio interview recently that “it is not a must he becomes the fifth president,” and that he will retire alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 if he fails in his quest for the Presidency, he was expressing a reality and an eventuality. The Presidency to any deputy president is so close, yet so far. We do not even know their existence, yet they labour in vain each day to serve their nations diligently and faithfully.
