Incident has drawn repercussion against the police

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has officially launched investigations into the alleged shooting of seven year old boy and an expectant woman in Pipeline estate, Nairobi.

 

The incident is said to have happened on Tuesday evening,when police officers shot the minor, Geoffrey Mutinda, was playing on the balcony of their first floor apartment in Pipeline.

The bullet went straight through the boys’ head as seen from photos making rounds on the web. Two other people were also shot among them an expectant woman and several others injured by stray bullets.

IPOA, through a statement said that it was mandatory that it provides for holding the police accountable to the public as stipulated in its mandate under Section 5(a, b and c).

The matter will then be forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, Keriako Tobiko for further action, upon conclusion.

On Tuesday, police officers engaged NASA supporters in running battles with similar incidents witnessed in Manyanja road in Donholm and at the Jacaranda grounds.

Nasa principles had assembled for a memorial service of slain victims from all the political clamour witnessed in the past few weeks, but which was interrupted by police officers as they claimed they were guilty of abetting.
