NAIROBI: Thursday, July 28, 2016, the National Assembly passed the Banking (Amendment) Bill, 2015.

The Bill seeks to cap lending rates at four percent above the Central Bank Rate (CBR) and to also set a minimum interest rate for deposits in interest-earning accounts at 70 percent of the CBR.
