Jubilee outlines achievements after 900 days in power

The Government used this year's Madaraka Day celebrations in Nakuru to list its achievements. A booklet titled 2017 UR Our Choice, which was circulated to the masses attending the celebrations, contained the President's visits to various parts of the country launching development projects and also his global visits.

This was also portrayed in President Uhuru Kenyatta's speech which he read, enumerating what his administration has achieved.

"If we were to list all that my Government has done in the last 900 days we have been in power, we will be here for a while longer," he said.

From infrastructure to power connection, President Kenyatta said his administration was fully committed to transforming the country in the shortest time possible.

"My government is in a rush because we know Kenyans expect us to find answers to their problems without delay. That is why we were elected and the reason we have worked so hard for the last three years," he said.

"I promised that children in Standard One would learn using the latest digital technology. That promise has been fulfilled. By August this year, we will have over 600,000 pupils learning with tablets and laptops with another 600,000 to follow by December," he added.

He said Jubilee was not only giving out the devices but opening a world of connection and innovation to the Kenyan child. "In a few years, we will see an entire generation of Kenyans with the new skills they need to build a new Kenya," he said.

He said his Government had also transferred more than a trillion shillings to the counties. Uhuru said they had built more roads than all the previous regimes combined and increased power connectivity.

"Since 2013, we have connected an additional 2.2 million households to power and 22,000 primary schools to the national grid," he said. He said they launched the Inua Jamii cash transfer programme where Sh17.4 billion has been disbursed to 725,000 households in the past one year.
