President Uhuru Kenyatta's itinerary will be jam-packed next month, State House has said.

Statehouse Spokesman Manoah Esipisu said the President will visit France and Germany from April 4 to 8. On his return, he will tour six counties to the meet the people and launch development projects.

"The President's trip to France is on the invitation of President François Hollande where they will discuss issues of security, trade, tourism and investment and how to enhance business between the two countries," said Mr Esipisu.

Uhuru, Esipisu said, is keen to see improved bilateral trade between the two countries.

In Germany, the President will seek to attract tourists to visit Kenya.

"The Head of State is keen to enhance the ties between the two countries especially after Germany's Lufthansa airline restarted its direct flights to the country.

He will also discuss issues of trade, peace in the region and development support together with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel," said Esipisu.

He said the two trips will offer an opportunity for the President to sign multi-billion-shilling loans and grants for development and also cement Kenya's place as the regional hub.

Launch projects

After the European tour, the President will visit Embu, Laikipia, Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Uasin Gishu and Machakos.

"The trips locally will accord President Kenyatta an opportunity to interact with Kenyans and hear their issues and he will use the moments to launch several projects in the counties," said the State House spokesman.

Meanwhile, Uhuru Thursday held talks with Prince William on conservation and especially on the planned burning of 120 tonnes of ivory and 1.5 tonnes of rhino horn.

The President also met with the chairman of the China People's Party where they discussed continued trade between the two countries.
