The world must unite in war against terror

The heinous and barbaric ISIS attacks that took place in Paris, France, on Friday where more than 100 people died and over 300 wounded should be condemned in the strongest terms possible.

And if the pronouncement by French Prime Minister Manuel Valls that new terror attacks are being planned in France and other European countries is anything to go by, then there is unprecedented urgency for all nations of the world to join efforts in combating this global menace.

Kenya has experienced a number of terrorist attacks due to KDF presence in Somalia.

The infamous Garissa University terror attack in April, this year, that left more than 100 students dead and West Gate Mall attack in September 2013 are still fresh in the minds of Kenyans.

Worse, threat of terrorism coupled with travel advisories are largely to blame for falling tourist numbers in Kenya.

The infiltration of terrorists from across the porous Somali border and radicalisation of the youth should be addressed urgently.

The attack in Paris is a big blow to all countries in the world.

But how much are Kenyans prepared? Time has come for the Government to put in place measures to preempt terror attacks.

It seems acts of terrorism are becoming a norm. If not dealt with, the world will surely lose the war to terrorists.

Terrorism is a big setback to Kenya’s economy and should be foiled by all means.
