President Uhuru talks tough to terrorists

President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again fired a warning salvo to extremists in the country, saying that his Government will deal firmly with terrorists.

The President said that the Government was committed to ensuring that security prevails throughout the country and called for peaceful co-existence among the various religious groups.

“A nation divided cannot itself stand. Religion should not be used to divide and destroy the nation we have all laboured to build to this point,” he cautioned.

Not relent

“We have co-existed for far too long and we will not allow a few people to come and divide us,” he said.

The President said that the Government would not relent in its resolve to ensure that its people were safe.

President Kenyatta’s tough talk against terrorism comes after a series of attacks in various parts of the country as police step up efforts to foil more attacks.

He maintained that those who thought they could succeed in creating fear and despondency by killing innocent people would be dealt with firmly.

The President made the remarks at the Vincentian Retreat Centre in Thika during the inauguration of the centre’s auditorium.
