Governor Dado appoints his deputy to Cabinet in executives reshuffle

Tana River Governor Husein Dado (pictured) has reshuffled his Cabinet and brought on board his deputy.

In a move he termed as aimed at streamlining service delivery, Mr Dado affected nine cabinet departments.

In changes announced on Friday, none of the executive members was fired despite demands by the assembly who have accused some executive members of corruption.

For the last two years, the MCAs have been tabling a series of complaints accusing some of executive members of being arrogant, ineffective and embarking on unnecessary and expensive trips.

Dado took away the Department of Co-operative Development from by Adam Barisa and give it to his deputy, Siyat Jire.

The Trade docket, which was part of Co-operatives Development was abolished.

The Finance and Planning docket which was headed by Jillo Algi is now under Salim Mohamed who was formally in the Water and Health docket.

Hassan Bare of Education now becomes the new executive officer for Health and sanitation.

Mr Algi takes over from Sofia Wedo of Environment and Natural Resources

Ms Wedo is now the new executive officer in charge of Education and Vocational Training.

Mr Barisa will now head the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries department. Abdi Bile of Special Programmes remains in his post.

Eunice Mungatana and Yusuf Adow of Culture and Roads respectively also retained their positions while Omar Buketa of Lands, Livestock and Fisheries took over the renamed Lands and Irrigation docket.

The governor also named his spokesman Ali Wario Ashaka as his political advisor taking over from Abaroba Barisa.
