Tourism set to ‘tembea’ to the grave

In my humble opinion, and there is nothing humble about it, the Government of Kenya has perfected the art of giving excuses instead of explanations or solutions.

According to the Government and its cronies, the ‘patriotic’ Kenyans who live in their own world, the Government has solved all the problems Kenya is facing, and is only getting distracted by some unpatriotic miscreants, such as wayward politicians and unfriendly foreign envoys.

As things stand, the Government is in denial, and is not in short supply of lame excuses, some of which border on the bizarre, and it is painful to hear it give them time and time again.

When asked about insecurity, it keeps saying the people should focus on the impending attacks it thwarted. But Kenyans were never told about these attacks, so it is hard to understand how they are expected to focus on them.

GLOBAL PROBLEM

When it comes to the Government’s inability to fight terrorism, the excuse has been that terrorism is a global problem, and Kenya is not the only country affected.

That statement is a subtle message that Kenyans should seek protection from some other place, not from the Government.

Okay, terrorism is a global problem. But so are poverty, corruption, lack of proper healthcare, child and maternal mortality, food insecurity, poor infrastructure, road accidents, human trafficking, child labour, prostitution, sex tourism, lack of housing, crime and, of course, stupidity, plus many other problems.

I want to guess that no other country is making any efforts to find solutions to those problems because they are global.
