Kenya’s positivity rate at 11.8 per cent as 10 die of Covid-19

10 people have succumbed to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 3,447.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) said in a statement Saturday that “all the fatalities are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in the months of April, May, and June.”

Today, seven hundred and fourteen people have tested positive for the disease, from a 6,039 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.

Kenya’s positivity rate is now 11.8 per cent, with 178,792 total confirmed Covid-19 cases and 1,901,067 tests conducted since the onset of the disease.

Some two hundred and eighty-five patients have also recovered, “167 discharged from various health facilities countrywide, and 118 from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program,” Kagwe said.

Total recoveries now stand at 122,631.

Some 1,073 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 5,174 patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Ninety-four patients are in the ICU, twenty-five on ventilatory support and fifty on supplemental oxygen. The Ministry says it is observing nineteen patients.

CS Kagwe added that a total of 1,181,588 vaccines have been administered so far (includes both first and second doses).
