Google Calendar is down; no one knows where they are supposed to be

Google Calendar appears to be suffering an outage, leaving users who rely on it for their daily schedules confused about where they are supposed to be.

People attempting to access the site were met with a "Not Found, Error 404" message.

Google has been having problems since 15.09 BST, according to data from website DownDetector.com, which monitors online outages.

While the site does not track Google's services individually, the vast majority of comments are complaining about being unable to access Google Calendar.

Users in Northern Europe and the East Coast of the United States appear to be the worst affected, according to DownDetector's outage map.

Meanwhile, Google's own app status page reports that there is a "service disruption".

"We're investigating reports of an issue with Google Calendar. We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are unable to access Google Calendar," it states.

The cause of the outage is not yet clear.

Everyone who has a Gmail account is automatically assigned a Google Calendar, but it's not known how many users actively use it.

The application allows users to create and edit events, add location details, set reminders and invite other users to events.

Many users took to social media to express their frustration and confusion about the lack of service.
