President Uhuru holds another meeting to plan on economy

President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta has held another meeting with his economic team as he prepares to embark on his final term in office.

The meeting, the fourth to be held ahead of his inauguration on Tuesday, builds on the President-elect’s ongoing consultations which will see him unveil his agenda for the next five years. Uhuru hopes to revive the country’s development momentum at a time international finance organisations as well as the National Treasury have cut forecast on the pace of economic growth.

The  meeting, chaired by the President and also attended by Deputy President William Ruto at the National Treasury, comes after similar one held earlier in the week.

During a separate meeting at the same venue, the Head of State held talks with the Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Dr Mukhisa Kituyi. Kituyi, who served as Trade Minister in former President Kibaki’s administration, in July won a second four-year term at the helm of UNCTAD following recommendation of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
