Brookside Dairy is targeting to train more than 100,000 farmers on ways of boosting milk production to meet market demands. The firm, which commands nearly half of the national raw milk market, said the training will see farmers taught best practices in dairy management, including quality book keeping.

According to Brookside’s director of milk procurement, John Gethi, more than 50,000 farmers from 27 counties benefited from dairy training courses organised by the processor.

The firm has pioneered the use of demonstration farms in major milk sheds across the country. Such farms are already in Kirinyaga, Uasin Gishu, Kiambu, Nyeri, Nyandarua and Nakuru counties, with plans to roll out more.
