More than 10,000 Chinese computers hacked in a year

More than 10,000 computers in China were attacked by domestic and overseas hackers between December 2014 and November 2015, a cybersecurity firm has detected.

The SkyEye Lab, run by Chinese cybersecurity firm Qihoo 360, said 29 hacker organizations from home and abroad launched the attacks.

Beijing, Guangdong Province and Zhejiang Province were most frequently attacked regions, while scientific research institutions and governmental bodies were the hackers' biggest targets.

"Their purpose is to steal confidential information from these computers," said Wu Yunkun, a senior executive at Qihoo 360.

China is a major victim of advanced persistent threat (APT), according to the SkyEye Lab.
