Gina Din- Kariuki named one of the 100 Most Influential Africans by New African Magazine

NAIROBI, KENYA: Kenya’s Gina Din-Kariuki, a pan-African public relations practitioner has been named one of the 100 most influential Africans in the latest edition of New African Magazine.

Gina Din, the founder and chairperson of Gina Din Group,  one of the largest integrated communication and marketing companies in the region, was named in the business category.

“Gina Din has built her PR management firm into one of the leading companies in the industry in the East African region,” the magazine said.

Gina Din was named among 8 other influential Kenyans who include President Uhuru Kenya, Equity Bank chief executive officer James Mwangi, Kenya Red Cross secretary general Abbas Gullet and Harvard University -based scientist Prof Calestous Juma. Others include Citizen TV anchor Julie Gichuru, actress Lupita Nyong’o, author Mukoma wa Ngugi and James Mworia, CEO, Centum Investment.

Other influential individuals named include Donald Kaberuka, the President of African Development Bank, Sanusi Lamido, Nigeria Central Bank governor, Mohammed Morsi, the deposed Egyptian president, Nigerian business mogul Aliko Dangote and Somali-born British citizen runner Mo Farah.

The influential persons were categorised into Politics and international organisation, business, civil society, science and academia. Other categories were media, arts and culture, sports and religion and traditions.

Gina Din Group recently bagged 5 awards at the annual Public Relations society of Kenya gala night.  The firm was feted as the best PR firm in the country. It also scooped awards in technology and public campaign category. In October, it rebranded to Gina Din Group from Gina Din Corporate Communications following its recent partnershp with Imagine IMC.

Founded in 1997, Gina Din Group has served clients including  blue chip companies such as Safaricom Ltd, Kenya Airways, Old Mutual Kenya, Association of Kenya Insurers and Kenya Commercial Bank, among others.

Gina Din Kariuki has also been on the forefront of philanthropic activities in the country. She was part of the brain behind the successful campaign Kenya for Kenyans which raised funds in support for the drought stricken Turkana region.

“Gina Din has played an active philanthropic role, serving in various capacities including goodwill ambassador of Kenya Red Cross”, the publication said.
