Kimunya fires Kirgotty as Ida lands university council seat

The Registrar of Motor Vehicles Simon ole Kirgotty has been sacked. In a gazette notice, Transport minister Amos Kimunya said Kirgotty’s appointment has been revoked with immediate effect.

On the other hand, President Kibaki has appointed Catherine Ngahu to chair Kenya Information and Communication Board for a period of three years.

Also appointed is Mbage Nganga as chairman of the Energy Tribunal for a period of three years. Mrs Florence Kajuju will be the vice chairperson of the tribunal.

Mrs Joyce Akai Emanikor has also been appointed the chairperson of the Kerio Valley Development Authority for three years.

Kibaki has also appointed former Egerton University Vice Chancellor Prof Japheth Kiptoon as chairman of Maseno University Council.

Daniel Shem Omino will be the vice chairman while Gladys Nasieku Taraiya is honorary treasurer. Other members of the council include David Kikaya, Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga, John Kisenga, Dr Reuben Indiatsi Nasibi. Others are Don Remmy Ogallo and Dr Dekha Sheikh.

Energy Minister Kiraitu Murungi has also appointed Daniel Ombasa Apepo to be a member of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation of Kenya.
