A minor is nursing injuries after her father repeatedly defiled her and then fled.

The man is alleged to have taken the girl, three, from her grandmother on Sunday morning and performed the shameful act.

He is said to have fled after he learned that angry villagers were looking for him.

The victim’s grandmother said she was with her granddaughter when his son visited them at their home in Bombolulu and requested to take the girl with him.

“My son came to my house and asked if he could take my granddaughter with him. But when she came back, we saw blood on her pants.

That’s when we checked and found he had defiled her,” she said.

The grandmother said she was staying with the girl after his son divorced.

She recounted that they then took the child to a nearby health centre where a doctor confirmed she had been defiled.

Traumatic experience

He referred her to Coast Provincial General Hospital for further treatment.

The grandmother now wants her son arrested and charged for the crime.

“I am very bitter. I don’t care if he is my son. I want him to be arrested and prosecuted. This girl is too young to undergo such a traumatic experience,” she added.

When The Standard visited the girl at the hospital, she was undergoing treatment at the Gender Based Violence Recovery Centre before being taken to see a gynaecologist.
