Fraudster waits for his day in court

Police in Nakuru have arrested a primary school teacher for allegedly forging bank documents in an attempt to defraud the bank.

Area Police Commander Johnston Ipara said the suspect was arrested after an employee of Kenya Commercial Bank reported the fraud to them.

“Alphonse Kennedy reported that on June 7, while going through loan application forms he noticed that a bank statement attached to the suspect’s form was not genuine,” he said.

He added that the bank statement was purported to be a genuine document issued by Equity Bank.

“The teacher was applying for a loan of Sh500,000,” he said.

Ipara said the teacher would be arraigned in court to face charges of forgery and illegally uttering a forged document.

At the same time, police are holding a man who allegedly obtained Sh67,000 by pretending that he would assist in getting youths employed in the armed forces.

The OCPD said that the man was arrested on Sunday after a man reported that he had given him the money after he promised that he would get his sons employed in the Kenya army.

“John Morara said the man asked him for Sh67,000 but after he gave him the money he grew suspicious and reported the incident to the police,” Ipara said.

Murder streak in Nyandarua

A middle-aged man was yesterday found dead in yet another mysterious murder in Nyandarua District.

Residents of Njabini woke up to find the body of the man lying by the roadside along Njabini-Ol Kalou Road.

Nyandarua OCPD Jasper Ombati said the man is said to have been drinking at a nearby pub in the company of three women on Monday night before he was found murdered.

The incident comes barely two weeks after a series of mysterious murders in the area. Six people have so far lost their lives mysteriously.

Ombati said police have launched investigations into the deaths.

He said police were alerted of the incident by the public who discovered the body yesterday morning.

Ombati said police patrols have been increased within estates in the district to reduce crime.

The body of the deceased was moved to Naivasha District Hospital mortuary.
