Kenya's upcoming basketball female star Medina Okot is among the top 60 African Under-18 players picked to attend the Basketball Without Boarders (BWB) camp in Cairo, Egypt.

Okot leaves the country on Friday for the clinic that runs from Saturday to next Wednesday at Hassan Mostafa Indoor Sports Complex in Cairo.

Okot, a former student at Kaya Tiwi school in Kwale County will be the only Kenyan player at the high-level clinic.

"I am delighted to travel to Cairo for the camp. I expect to learn a lot from the camp as I mingle with some of the world's best coaches," said Okot who turned 18 years Tuesday.

"It is a dream come true as I continue pursuing my basketball career," said a joyful Okot who represented Kenya in the 3x3 basketball discipline at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

She said she is looking forward to gaining a lot from the Egyptian camp.

"I learned a lot from the Commonwealth Games where I met and played with high-level players. I never thought I would one day represent Kenya in any sport at that level but I thank God for his grace," said Okot.

The youthful player is also set to join Troy University College in the US for a fully paid four-year scholarship to study and play basketball. Okot will be joining another Kenyan international basketballer Felmas Koranga at the institution.

The 18th BWB Africa camp will mark the first time the NBA and FIBA's global basketball development and community outreach program will be held in Egypt and the first time on the continent since 2019 in Senegal.
