Oregon World Championships: Kenya faces medal drought

With 11 medals - five gold, two silver and four bronze, Kenya finished second behind the US in the medal table in the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar. And with four days to the close of the 2022 World Championships in Oregon, Kenya’s high hopes in its traditional races is waning. 

“Buckle up because the traditional song, dance and the partaking of mursik (traditional sour milk), which always bring business to a standstill at our airports after every global show might not be there. Let us hope our stars will pull surprises in the remaining races,” Philip Kipchumba, an athletics enthusiast said yesterday.
