Art of Living : A home worthy of a Queen

Home of Aliza Rajan, Miss India 2005.

What factors do you consider when thinking about apartment living? Security convenience, price, and location? If you have a few coins to spare, what style would you go for? I was thrilled and curious, of course, when Aliza Rajan, Miss India 2005, award-winning influencer and businesswoman, accepted to do the Art of Living interview.

Aliza’s space is the epitome of style and luxury. Her home depicts her sophisticated and elegant personality. I was mesmerised by the edgy, cosy and exceptional home.

Aliza, who now runs the Miss India franchise here in Kenya, tied the knot three years ago. Her contemporary and lavish apartment, with its modern and chic architecture, is located in the suburbs of Nairobi.

As a resident, she enjoys the rooftop party lawn with a gazebo. The rooftop’s breathtaking view sweeps across Nairobi city. Other impressive amenities include a state-of-the-art gym, residents’ lounge, children's play area, an outdoor heated pool deck, steam rooms, and a barbecue area. Talk about class!

Security at this cosmopolitan apartment is airtight; one must have an authorised card to enter any of the apartments.

When Aliza ushered me into her living room, the centrepiece of any home, I was drawn in by the chic open-plan design.

The open kitchen is fully fitted with stainless steel appliances and top-notch porcelain tiled floors that give it a clean, classy finish. Notably, no chandeliers or lampshades are in sight. However, there are neutral light fixtures on the gypsum ceiling.

The apartment has expansive windows, and sliding doors open to a huge balcony where this former Miss India enjoys spectacular views of the Nairobi skyline.

Her style is minimalist, with no clutter in sight. She does not have any storage space or carpets in the entire home, which I find quite fascinating.

A neutral wall pallet in the living room gives the perfect backdrop for tasteful furniture and a few accessories are beautifully displayed. On the wall, displayed is a colourfully painted art décor illustrating her romantic journey. She tells me it was a wedding gift from a friend.

They fell in love with the apartment the first time they saw it. It was a no-brainer that that is where they wanted to live, and they did the interior décor themselves.

Like the rest of their home, each ensuite bedroom has a personality; the lavish master bedroom has a his and hers walk-in closet. The beds’ high-quality craftsmanship is something to behold.

Food for thought: Must we have storage space in our homes? Why do we have clutter? Why do we hoard stuff? For more watch Art of Living today at 6.30 pm on KTN Home
