Authorities in Nakuru County have stopped a day time exotic and pole dancing extravaganza scheduled to be held at a popular night club.
The event dubbed ‘Vegas Heat Saturday’ was to start at around 3pm and end at 9pm, before the night curfew imposed to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
Although the management of Sebs Hotel, located on Moi Road, could not confirm or deny hosting the event, posters circulated on social media indicated the party would adhere to Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Health ministry.
“We didn’t plan to host clients. The exotic dancers were to come and do their rehearsals on their own. An error was made in making the poster,” said Sebs Club manager Simon Ndung’u.
But Public Health chief officer Samuel King’ori reminded the organisers through a notice that Covid-19 regulations are still in force.
“Kindly be advised that Covid-19 regulations still stand. Anyone who contravenes the same [will attract] legal action [against them] ... and licenses of the premises will be revoked permanently,” King’ori’s statement reads in part.
The health officials further informed the police through the county commissioner of the event.
“I hereby request your office and that of the county commander to stop the event, because we have not allowed any kind of gathering,” read another letter to the local police commander.
When the Standard Digital team visited the hotel at 2.30pm, the hotel was deserted and a security guard at the gate said no such event will take place.
