Ledama Ole Kina, Sakaja ranked among best performing Senators

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and his counterpart Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi) have been ranked among the best performing governors by Mzalendo Watch.

The body, which tracks the activities of Kenyan legislators, ranked Ole Kina as the top-performing senator, followed by Moses Wetangula (Bungoma), Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho) and Ochilo Ayako (Migori).

Sakaja was ranked as the top performing youth in the senate followed by Samson Cherargei (Nandi), Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho) and Moses Kajwang’ (Homabay).

109 was considered as the average speech count in the senate and the report indicated that 60% of the senators scored way below that.

The ‘most silent’ senators were Mercy Chebeni (Nominated), Christine Zawadi (Nominated), Philip Mpaayei (Kajiado), Amos Wako (Busia) and Halima Abdille (Nominated).

On account of the number of speeches, ODM is the best-performing party, followed by Jubilee and ANC.

ODM Senators are above the average performance of Senate.

Elsewhere, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo was ranked among the top performers in the National Assembly, followed by Nominated MP David Sankok, Wilberforce Oundo (Funyula) and Robert Pukose (Endebess).

The most silent MPs were Geofret Kingagi (Mbeere South), George Aladwa (Makadara), James Gakuya (Embakasi North) and Oscar Sudi (Kapseret) among others.

The average speech counts in the National Assembly was 20 and 63% of the total number of members of the National Assembly scored below average.

Sankok, representing PWDs was the most vocal, followed by Godfrey Osotsi representing workers and Jacqueline Oduol representing marginalised women. Sammy Seroney representing workers was least active among special interest MNAs, followed by Nasri Sahal Ibrahim representing minority and finally Gideon Keter who was nominated to represented the youth.

The top-performing youth in the National Assembly is Didmus Baraza (Kimilili) followed by Sabina Chege, Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) and John Mwirigi (Igembe South).
