Kenyan rangers dominate Africa awards

Kenyan rangers dominated the 2019 African Ranger Awards, scooping 18 of the 50 slots in this year’s list.

The African Rangers Awards, an initiative of Chinese billionaire entrepreneur Jack Ma, honours outstanding wildlife rangers in Africa in a bid to raise awareness on the threats facing wildlife.

The winners were announced by Paradise Foundation during World Ranger Day, which is celebrated on July 31.

The award comes with Sh300,000 grant to be awarded to each of the 50 winning rangers each year until 2027.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy commended rangers for their work in combating poaching.
